Scott Byrnes has returned to Ana’s team as her dedicated strength and conditioning coach. The Australian worked with Ana between July 2006 and July 2009 before taking a break from the tennis circuit.Upon his return he worked with top five-ranked players Maria Sharapova, Vera Zvonareva and, most recently, Victoria Azarenka.
Byrnes was omnipresent during the most successful moments of Ana's career so far, which included her ascent to the No.1 ranking in 2008. He was also chiefly responsible for arguably the greatest fitness gains she ever made, during the first few months of their co-operation.
“I’m delighted to be re-joining the team,” said Byrnes. “We have some unfinished business on the WTA tour.”
Ana commented: “With the appointment of Nigel as my coach, and now Scott as my fitness trainer, I feel that I have a very good structure in place and I am feeling optimistic about the future.”
