Ana visited the Baptist Children's Hospital in Miami on Wednesday. She walked around the wards, spending time with patients and handing out some tournament-related gifts.
“It’s really nice to come and visit, especially the kids, and try to give them something in return, and try to cheer them up a little bit. You see a lot of sad things and injustices as well for a young kid to be sick or hurt. It’s hard.
“I love working with kids. I would like to have two or three of my own one day,” she said. “But still...not thinking about that!"
This was Ana's second visit to the medical facility, following her appearance there four years ago.
Barbara Moore, an employee at Baptist Children’s Hospital, said: “She’s just genuine. You can tell that, the way she interacts with the children.”
She is in town for the Sony Ericsson Open and will be in doubles action alongside Andrea Petkovic on Thursday. The pair, who received a wild card into the draw, take on Taipei's Chia-Jung Chuang and Anastasia Rodionova of Russia
